Profile
Founded here in 1917 at Sunny Hill, the former home of David and Margaret Watson, it began as a residential school for disabled children. In 1952, Dr. Jonas Salk, assisted by medical director Dr. Jessie Wright, began the first human testing of his polio vaccine here with patients, staff, and local children. Successful testing led to the 1955 approval and use of the vaccine and the eventual eradication of the debilitating disease. (Dedicated: Friday, October 19, 2018)

My aunt, Rita Yacovone, was a patient at the D.T. Watson Home for Crippled Children in 1940 when she was 9 years old. Is there anywhere I could access a patient list to check the exact dates she was there and any other info on her? She is now 95 and although is experiencing some dementia she remembered the name of the Home and says, as she did many times in the past, how wonderful it was and how they treated her so well.
