For 38 years, WPXI has been presenting its annual Holiday Parade to kick off the holiday season. It is the only local televised parade in Pittsburgh, and each year the parade features colorful floats, marching bands, specialty units, balloons, Santa Claus, as well as national and local celebrities. Past guests have included teen sensations Maddie & Mackenzie Ziegler, pop superstar Christina Aguilera, R&B star Usher, music legend Chubby Checker, America’s Got Talent star Jackie Evancho, and actor Joe Manganiello, and numerous others.
This year’s parade is slated for Saturday, November 24, from 9-11 a.m. and the parade route courses through the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. Once again, it will delight spectators with appearances by local celebrities, talented singers and dancers, marching bands, festive floats, billowing balloons and more to get Pittsburghers into the holiday spirit. Pittsburgh native and American Idol finalist, Gabby Barrett is will perform, and the beloved Harlem Globetrotters will make an appearance as well as extreme pogo jumpers from Xpogo.
This year’s parade promises to be extra special as it will salute the neighborhoods that make up the city of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, as well as paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.
For those who can’t make it downtown for the parade, it will be televised live by WPXI-TV and streamed live on wpxi.com/Facebook Live.
