David L. Lawrence Convention Center
April 6 – 8
Where can you discover the art of fabric slashing, take a journey through the color wheel, sew a kaleidoscope quilt — and much more — all in one weekend?
Blending traditional handcrafts passed down from grandmothers with funky new techniques, Pittsburgh’s Creative Arts Festival returns bigger than ever with a craft, skill and project for every maker.
Boasting 85-plus classes, demos and workshops, the “fabric and fiber” mecca also includes exhibits, a marketplace, and sessions with nationally acclaimed artists and educators. Attendees can explore a wide range of art forms — from spinning, sewing and embroidery, to weaving, felting and dyeing.
Head to The Maker Space to participate in home décor and fashion activities, and pop into the Creative Open Studio to transform reusable ribbons, fabric scraps and silks into fabulous new looks.
Embellish your world with “shabby chic boho” tassels, master Tunisian crocheting, shop for locally sourced yarns, and leave with a zillion ideas for new spring crafts.
