Full Post | Original Source...

WHAT: Pittsburgh Irish Festival
WHERE: The Riverplex at Sandcastle
WHEN: September 7 – 9, various times

Why You Should Go:

Where can you learn the ancient art of Celtic axe throwing, sample Guinness-infused fudge and buy an authentic Aran knit sweater? One of the country’s leading Irish-American festivals has a lot that’s new this year for its cultural showcase of the Emerald Isle.

Watch dramatic hurling matches, trace your Irish ancestry, and sip mead, craft beer and coffee. Feast your eyes and tastebuds on boxty pancakes and Shepherd’s Pie, cuddle with dogs native to Ireland and see artist Conor Coleman create traditional ink artwork.

The festivities will also feature colorfully costumed dance ensembles, instrument demonstrations and music by Gaelic Storm, The Screaming Orphans, Doolin’ and many others.

Buy tickets.
