Full Post | Original Source...

WHAT: Alloy Pittsburgh
WHERE: Carrie Blast Furnaces
WHEN: August 25 – September 29

Why You Should Go:

Art is not just for the walls and pedestals of museums and galleries. The site where 1,250 tons of iron were once produced daily will soon house an innovative exhibition showcasing work by nine regional artists.

From modern dance and video projections, to cast glass and found objects, the site-specific installations are inspired by the history, current condition and potential future of the National Historic Landmark.

Don’t miss Saturday’s opening reception from 1 to 4 p.m. where you can tour the grounds, meet the artists and enjoy refreshments.

Accompanying events include guided tours, a conversation with Alloy artists and a cocktail reception. Head back to Carrie Furnaces September 29 for Rivers of Steel’s Festival of Combustion.
